In a chilling crime that has shocked Haryana’s Hisar district, a 32-year-old social media influencer and her lover have been arrested for allegedly murdering her husband and disposing of his body in a roadside drain. The crime, motivated by a secret affair and growing marital tensions, has sparked widespread outrage and concern over the dark side of social media fame.
A Secret Affair Sparked on Instagram
Raveena, the accused, reportedly met her lover Suresh on Instagram. The two began collaborating on short-form content — dance reels and viral videos — which they filmed regularly in Premnagar. Their partnership quickly evolved into a romantic affair, which drew sharp objections from Raveena’s husband, Praveen, and his family.
Despite these protests, Raveena and Suresh continued to post content online. Their videos earned Raveena a growing social media presence, with over 34,000 followers on Instagram. However, the growing online popularity came at the cost of her marriage.
A Troubled Marriage
Raveena, a native of Joodi village in Rewari, was married to Praveen, a resident of Gujron Ki Dhani near the Bhiwani old bus stand. Praveen worked as a driver at a sand and gravel shop and was said to be struggling with alcoholism. According to reports, his personal issues and frustration with his wife’s relationship with Suresh led to frequent arguments at home.
Praveen and his family had repeatedly urged Raveena to end her association with Suresh and stop making videos with him. But Raveena refused to back down, insisting on pursuing her passion for content creation. As tensions escalated, so did the secret relationship with Suresh — until it eventually turned deadly.
The Murder and Cover-Up
According to police investigations, Praveen allegedly caught Raveena and Suresh in a compromising situation, which led to a confrontation. Fearing exposure and consequences, the couple hatched a sinister plan to get rid of Praveen permanently.
On the night of the murder, they reportedly strangled Praveen to death. CCTV footage later recovered by investigators showed two people on a motorcycle: a man driving, and a woman — believed to be Raveena — seated behind him with her face covered. Sandwiched between them was a bundle suspected to be Praveen’s body. A few hours later, the same duo was seen returning — this time without the bundle.
The body was discovered in a decomposed state on March 28, dumped in a drain not far from Raveena’s residence. After analyzing surveillance footage and inconsistencies in her statements, police interrogated Raveena, during which she confessed to the crime. Suresh was also arrested soon after, and both have now been remanded to judicial custody.
Aftermath and Family Impact
The tragic murder has left behind a grieving family and a traumatized child. Raveena and Praveen’s six-year-old son is now in the care of his grandfather and uncle. The family, still reeling from the loss, has demanded strict punishment for the accused and expressed disbelief over the betrayal.

This incident follows closely on the heels of another horrifying case in Meerut, where a woman and her lover killed her husband, dismembered his body, and sealed the remains inside a cement-filled drum. That case, too, had the nation on edge due to its gruesome details and shocking betrayal.
These back-to-back crimes have ignited conversations about rising domestic violence, online relationships, and the misuse of social media platforms. Authorities are now calling for stronger monitoring and early intervention in domestic disputes before they escalate to such horrific levels.

The police continue to examine additional digital evidence, including social media content and mobile data, to build a stronger case. They are also investigating whether others were involved or aware of the crime.
